It bothers me when supposedly bright people have a poor understanding of language. Tonight, on 60 Minutes, Leslie Stahl referred to Taylor Swift’s love affairs as being short-lived. She failed to understand the meaning when she pronounced the “live” syllable with the short “i” as in the verb “to live.”
