Idina Menzel Sings It Wrong

Idina Menzel has been selected to sing the Star Spangled Banner on numerous occasions, yet she never gets it right. As the music is written, the word “banner” is pronounced in three syllables (ba-ne-er), not four syllables (ba-a-ne-er). Check out the sheet music and see what I mean.

Shame on her. As a professional singer, Idina Menzel should be able to read this music. How come she did not learn it correctly in the schools she attended in New York? When I was in school, that’s how the music teacher taught us to sing it.
