Do the Math

When I read a newspaper, I expect to see mistakes. However, this is the stupidest one I have seen in a long time. I blocked out the reporter’s name to avoid embarrassing him/her any further.

Even more disappointing is that the editor did not catch the mistake. It is a simple math mistake that even today’s public school core curriculum would not have been able to address. As a famous philosopher said, “You cannot fix stupid.”

It is a simple arithmetic calculation relating to the price, as can be seen below.

demi-apartment-part-2The asking price was $75 million. How clear is it that $26.4 million is “not nearly a quarter” of Moore’s asking price? In fact, it is more than one-third of that price.
